Animator and Illustrator Drew Christie made these two videos for for SFMoMA’s Photographic Interpretive Center, the first of its kind in the country, and part of the new Pritzker Center for Photography (at 15,500 square feet, the largest photo exhibition space in the country).

The first video tells the story of the forgotten innovations of the first photographs; the second of the first cinematograph. Christie expanded on his second subject — Eadweard Muybridge — for a short selected for the 2016 Sundance Film Festival: Emperor of Time: A Story of Betrayal, Murder, and the First Motion Pictures Ever Shot.
